Charm Wilson was a 32 year old Black trans woman living in Cleveland. On Thursday September 8, 2023, she was struck and killed by a car in her hometown. The driver was taken into police custody, but there is no word on charges being filed. The media has misgendered and deadnamed Charm.

Charm was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. A graduate of Shaw High School, she attended Cuyahoga Community College. On social media, Charm followed showed interest in photography and art, followed several prominent Black public figures, and liked the musician Dishikiii. Her friends speak of her vibrancy and enthusiasm, her tendency to embrace life with intensity.

A balloon release was held on September 14 by her family; her funeral is scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 2023 in Bedford Heights. Visitation will be the night before.

Charm is the 18th trans or gender nonconforming person whose violent death has been reported in 2023. She is the 14th trans person of color, the 12th Black trans person, the ninth Black trans woman, the 11th trans woman, and the 11th trans woman of color whose death have been recorded in the United States this year. Reported* is an important distinction to make as we know there are more folx whose deaths go unacknowledged.
