A Black Trans Woman Was Killed in Las Vegas in January. Now we know her name was Sasha Williams

The Crime

Sasha Williams was a 36 year old Black trans woman who was killed in Las Vegas on January 26, 2024. Sadly, it took months to confirm her identity. The Las Vegas Review Journal published a good local story last week.

On Jan. 26, at about 10:45 a.m., LVMPD Communications received a report of a stabbing in the 3700 block of Palos Verdes Street near Twain Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. She was transported to a local hospital. Sasha died at the hospital.

Police identified and apprehended the 20 year old suspect who was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for open murder with a deadly weapon.

The District Attorney’s office will determine if he’s fit to stand trial.

Honoring Sasha

Williams was born and raised by a single father in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was her parents’ only child, her aunt told the Las Vegas Review Journal. She came out as a trans woman to her aunt at age 16. She eventually had support from her family.
