Alexus Braxton, also known as Kimmy Icon Braxton, was killed in Miami on February 4, 2020. Police discovered Braxton’s body at approximately 10:31 p.m at the California Club Condominiums at 915 North East 199 Street, the Miami-Dade Police Department told Gay City News.

The department usually releases more details about the victim’s death, but in this incident, authorities said disclosing how it was done may “jeopardize the case.”
Kimmy was born and raised in Miami. She was living in Aventura at the time of her death. She studied at Miami Dade College in the 1990s and has worked as a hairstylist. Her social media is lively and festive, filled with interests and relationships.
She is the sixth trans or gender nonconforming person reported killed in 2021. She’s the fifth Black trans woman. In total, there have been SEVEN murders or suspicious deaths in the first 35 days of 2021, an average of one death every five days. So far. That we know of.
The #Braxton family is devastated as is Kimmy’s biological family. I cannot imagine their despair at not knowing more details about her death coupled with the inevitable misgendering and deadnaming by law enforcement. I haven’t even found mainstream media coverage of her death.
