Black Trans Woman Skylar Heath Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances in Miami
Skylar Heath was 20 years old when she lost her life on November 4, 2020 in Miami, Florida.
Misgendering by media, law enforcement, and in her obituary obscured her death and her lived experiences as a young Black trans woman.

Miami-Dade police found Skylar Heath in the vicinity of NW 14 Court and NW 82 Street, Miami, Florida at 4:13 am. It is not yet known the circumstances surrounding her death or where she was pronounced dead.
HRC shared reports from her friends claiming she was shot, but there is no formal information.
HRC was also recently made aware of the death of Skylar Heath, a 20-year-old Black transgender woman in Miami, Florida. There have been no reports by the media or law enforcement and HRC is continuing to investigate. Based on information from her friends, she was believed to have been shot — potentially bringing the number of violent deaths to 40.
